Fisheries Colleges

Fisheries course involves the study of oceanography, breeding, navigation, aquaculture, gears, research and other related activities. Nearly 1.4% of Indian GDP is contributed by Fisheries. Fisheries education is necessary for the production of technically sound personal who can contribute to the Fisheries Industry by helping in the transfer of Technology. These personals may be farm manager, modern fishermen’s, breeders, aquaculturist, and oceanographers etc, who will help to develop the different sectors of Fisheries.

There are various colleges in India who are providing Fisheries courses like inland aquaculture, industrial fisheries, mariculture, fish processing etc. to the aspirants and are training them in the best possible manner. Students are eligible to get admission in these colleges based on the availability of seats and on their merits. However, an entrance exam called Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is also conducted for taking admissions under this course. A student has to clear this entrance exam and that too with good score because the candidates with good scores will be given the first preference.
