Food Technology Colleges
Food Technology deals with the processing, packaging, selection, use, preservation and distribution of safe and nutritious food. Food Technologists and Food Scientists studies the chemical, physical and morphological makeup of food and applies food science for the development of new ways of preservation, packaging, storing and processing food as per the norms provided by the Government and Industry.
In some schools food technology is kept as part of the student’s curriculum and they are taught how to cook, food manufacturing process and nutritional facts about foods.
Though much interest is not seen amongst the students for taking up this course, but there are number of colleges which provide this course to the students. The students can go for diploma in Food Technology or B.Sc or B.Tech in Food Technology or Food Processing Technology. Some of these colleges also offer master’s degree in Food Technology to the students who have completed their Bachelor’s degree. An entrance exam is conducted for the students opting for B.Tech course and sometimes even for M.Sc course.
