Civil Engineering Entrance Exam

Civil Engineering is a filed of Engineering which deals with the design, maintenance and construction of the physically built environment which includes the works like roads, bridges, dams, canals and buildings. Civil Engineering is a very old engineering discipline. In fact only military engineering is said to be older than Civil Engineering. In early days it was civil engineering which distinguished military engineering from non-military engineering.

With time this engineering discipline has broken into various sub-disciplines like Environmental engineering, structural engineering, urban or municipal engineering, materials engineering, construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, water resources engineering and coastal engineering. Civil engineers are required everywhere; from municipal to federal levels in public sector and from homeowners to international companies in the private sector.

General Civil engineers are assigned with the task of serving fixed projects and that too within their given community, terrain and site by designing grading, pavement, sewer service, land divisions, drainage, electric and communications supply and water supply. Civil Engineers are assigned bigger projects like construction of bridges and dams, construction of residential and industrial building, and other public work projects in which the application of the principles of structural engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering and construction engineering.
