Fisheries Entrance Exam
Fisheries is related to the capture of inland and sea fishes, gears, aquaculture, oceanography, navigation, breeding, processing, aquarium management, import and export of seafood, research and related activities. Fisheries contribute to around 1.4% of GDP. Hence fisheries education is very much necessary.
The main objective of fisheries education in India is to create farm manager, traders, modern fishermen’s, aquaculturist, exporters, and breeders etc. Fisheries education is also needed for producing a technically strong personal so that transfer of technology could take place in the fisheries Industry. It is also needed for the research and development of the fisheries in India. There are lots of Fisheries colleges in India who are training a lot of students and are making them skillful and technically sound for the fisheries Industry.
Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) is a 4 year degree course. B.F.Sc. involves courses like inland aquaculture, mariculture, fish processing and post harvest technology, freshwater aquaculture, industrial fisheries, environment, ecology and extension. Students can get admission in any of the courses in any of the Fisheries College under the State Agricultural universities based on their merit and availability of seats. Students also get admission through an entrance exam called ICAR i.e. Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
