Metallurgical Engineering Entrance Exam

Metallurgy is a field of material science and it studies the chemical and physical behavior of metals, their mixtures and intermetallic compounds, which are called alloys. Metallurgy, also called as the technology of metals, is generally used in the technique of metalworking. Metallurgical engineer’s task is to establish balance between different material properties like weight, toughness, corrosion, strength, fatigue resistance, hardness, performance in extreme temperatures and cost.

The students who take up metallurgical engineering course are trained in such a fashion so that they become expert in their field and join various industries as qualified and trained engineers, dealing with the processing and production of metals and alloys which includes rolling mills, fabrication shops and foundries.

The students who are willing to pursue metallurgical engineering have to appear for the entrance exams which are conducted by the colleges which provide this course. Entrance exams contain Multiple Choice Questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A cut-off mark is set up by the institutes for selecting students as per the seats available. Some entrance exams also have negative marking system i.e. for each wrong answer some marks will be deducted from the total score. Candidates with better score have more chance of getting admission.
