Power Engineering Entrance Exam

Power systems engineering or Power engineering is a branch of engineering which involves the generation and transmission of electric power. It also deals with the electrical devices such as motors, generators, and transformers etc. which are connected to such power systems. The major task of the power Engineers is to deal with the problems which arises due to 3-phase AC power supply which is the standard for the transmission and distribution of power across the modern world. Power engineers also deals with the Ac and DC power conversion and development of special power systems which are used in electric railway networks and aircrafts etc.

There are 3 main subsystems related to power engineering:

1.    The generation subsystem in which the electricity is produced in the power plants.
2.    The transmission subsystem which transmits the electricity generated by the generation subsystem to the load centers.
3.    The distribution subsystem which transmits the electricity to the consumers.

There are many government as well as private colleges in India which provides Power Engineering Course to the students. Admission of the candidates under this course depends on their performance in the entrance exams which are conducted by the centre as well as by the individual institutes.
